Scott MacPherson and the San Antonio Chamber Choir present some of Rindfleisch’s most impressive and diverse polyphonic choral works, infusing them with thoughtful phrasing and precise, delicate intonation. These aspects of their approach are particularly evident in the tranquil “Mille regretz.” Working in a similar vein as other lauded contemporary choral composers such as Arvo Pärt, Rindfleisch treats his melodic lines with extreme precision, relying on bright tone clusters and airy dissonances to produce harmonies that sound otherworldly. On the prismatic “Veni Sancte Spiritus,” the choir excels in bringing out Rindfleisch’s masterful counterpoint.
