EDITORS’ NOTES

While Big K.R.I.T. literally shoots for the stars on his sophomore studio effort—a concept album orbiting its titular fictional planet—Cadillactica is decidedly earthbound and full of warm, organic beats. Produced largely by K.R.I.T. with assistance from Raphael Saadiq, Alex da Kid, and others, the record moves between the chunky soul of "Soul Food" and the slinking grooves of the title track, recalling the classic Dungeon Family sound. "Saturdays = Celebration" is a jagged banger that recalls (and namechecks) "Jesus Walks," while "Mind Control" and "King of the South" are molasses-thick trunk-busters.
