Making the most of her selections’ breakneck speed, SHERELLE keeps her mixing fast and furious, spicing her already hyperkinetic selections with perfectly timed silences, energy-stoking backspins, and crowd-pleasing classics given a clever twist—like the Cocky Balboa juke remix of Skream’s “Midnight Request Line” she drops about a third of the way through this absolutely unhinged London session from February 2019. (Surrounded by what must be one of the hypest crowds ever to back a Boiler Room booth, SHERELLE frequently spreads her arms to keep the sea of people from collapsing into her space; at key moments like Slick Shoota’s “Hardcore Junglist,” the air above her head bristles with pumping fists and gun fingers.) It’s remarkable how she keeps the energy level so high for so long without fatigue ever setting in, but such is her mastery of the 160-beats-per-minute zone—not so much a style as a state of mind, and one she understands intuitively.
