In honor of Black Music Month 2021, New Orleans producer extraordinaire Mannie Fresh has created a special mix. Below, he shares his thoughts on Black music and how its rich legacy comes alive in his work. “Black music was a very special bond between me and my father. Him being a DJ in the late ’60s and early ’70s, I got to hear and experience the power of Black recording artists and songs that changed the world forever. Marvin Gaye's What's Going On album, Bob Marley's Legend, James Brown's I’m Black and I’m Proud showed me and the rest of the world love, peace, and soul. That’s what Black music means to me.”
