Colorado's leaders of the crunkcore scene delivered this manifesto of blaring, fluorescent danceable screamo in 2007. Introducing the world to archetypal crunkcore anthem, "Freaxxx," Bc 13 seems to divide music listeners right down the middle, with people either loving their exaggeration (and intentional subversion) of hip-hop stereotypes or vehemently reacting against the band. For their part, these are the exact reactions the members of Brokencyde are after. Auto-Tune vocals, club-worthy synths and beats, wraith-screech rapping and spastic screams at the chorus are all piled on top of one another and delivered at maximum volume. In the wake of "Freaxxx," the four subsequent tracks on Bc 13 feature the same heart-attack energy levels and avalanche of styles, with screecher Se7en's pig-like "bree-bree" on the closer a major highlight. Whether you consider their music an obvious gimmick or the product of kids looking to have fun, it can't be denied that when Brokencyde appeared on Total Request Live and performed "Freaxxx" before Bc 13 hit the shelves, few, if anyone, saw their insolent takeover of the emo scene coming.
