“Our first proper live tour was supporting Disclosure across the UK,” Luke Patterson tells Apple Music. “It was the best thing ever, hearing their music every night, including [2013 single] ‘You & Me.’ Then when we thought we couldn’t love it any more than we already did, the Flume remix took the song to a whole new place. The harmonies are so modern in a classical sense, it reminds me of [Austrian American composer Arnold] Schoenberg.” It seems, then, that Clean Bandit struck upon the most fitting cover to select for their first Apple Music Home Session—released to help celebrate music from the 2010s. The band’s cellist and vocalist Grace Chatto definitely agrees. “The song brings back mad youthful memories I can feel across my whole body,” she says. “Ten of us squeezed in tiny dressings rooms, the bass pounding through from the main room into chests. Hearing [2012 Disclosure single] ‘Latch’ every night on the tour and feeling so inspired.” The UK electronic heroes also gift us an intimate version of 2022 single “Everything But You”—a song that captures the reflective mood the band find themselves in as the world continues to navigate the COVID pandemic. “Running the band was always my priority,” says Chatto. “So stopping and learning some basic adult life skills to look after myself was a new thing. Becoming acquainted with myself and my space—having traveled nonstop for seven years up until the moment the pandemic hit—was magical and very healing.”
