This newly discovered live set, a companion to Evans’ lost studio session Some Other Time recorded two days prior, finds the piano legend leading a short-lived trio lineup in the Netherlands with bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Jack DeJohnette. The sound is immaculate as they address key Evans originals “Very Early,” “Turn Out the Stars,” and “Five” as well as the Bacharach ballad “Alfie,” Miles Davis’ modern standard “Nardis,” and André Previn’s swinging “You’re Gonna Hear from Me,” the vibrant leadoff track.
