Bronx post-drill rapper A Boogie wit da Hoodie is going through it on his 2024 EP ALONE. He questions relationships that soured and friendships that deteriorated. He wonders why he spends time with people who use him for fame, wealth, or other upsetting ulterior motives. The project, which serves as an appetizer to his full-length LP Better Off Alone, is propelled by love and love lost, with A Boogie using his melodic magnetism to concoct his songs of heartbreak. On opener “Tiffanys,” he calculates all the time and money he spent on a relationship that went south. A bouncy drumbeat and woozy synths abound as A Boogie raps: “Crazy how I still feel alone, outside, 20 deep with my brothers/My home ain’t even a home no more, girl, we don’t even sleep with each other.” On ALONE, A Boogie wit da Hoodie has a yearning passion, looking for someone who can reciprocate accordingly.
