All in the rhythm

Strong African rhythms play a dominant role on this album, had me rocking in my chair. There’s great melody in the vocals as well as in the little phrases that are played by the backing instruments. I enjoyed listening to UKINA and MULOJI besides the title track AFRICA. On a more mellow, ballad kind of feel, GIBANU O LU KUAKU LUE comes across wonderfully with softer tone and fantastic choral voices!

I Strongly Recommend this Album to Anyone Who Likes Outstanding World Music

Here is a wonderful album by an acclaimed and talented World singer. Vivalda Dula was born and raised in Luanda, the capital city of Angola, Southern Africa. This soulful singer, songwriter, and percussionist uses her passion, appealing style, and Angolan culture to bring us her excellent World music performances.

One of my favorite tracks on this album is "Mazui" which in the Kimbundu language means voices, and raises social awareness against child labor, modern slavery, and human trafficking This track highlights the rich and distinctive vocals of Vivalda, in a style that is thoughtful and memorable. This album contains some of the most engaging and interesting vocal performances I have heard in a long time. I strongly recommend this album to anyone who likes outstanding World music.
