Train Track Worktapes - EP

In December of 2022, Tenille Townes hopped on the CP Holiday Train, an annual nonprofit effort that brings a traveling, multi-artist concert across 3,000 miles of southern Canada and the northern US in an effort to raise funds for local food banks. While she didn’t set out to write new material while partaking in the 15-day trip, Townes emerged with Train Track Worktapes, an intimate EP she co-produced with guitarist Jaxon Hargrove. Written and recorded during the trip, the EP is a fascinating snapshot of Townes’ creative process, with some tracks recorded in only one take. Standouts include the Townes solo write “Home to Me,” which adds to her canon of autobiographical songs, and the Hargrove co-write “Wheels,” a one-take cut imbued with energy from the train. Townes also offers a spare, emotional cover of the beloved Fleetwood Mac song “Landslide,” which fits well among her similarly vulnerable, stripped-down material.
