Famed audio naturalist Martyn Stewart, aka The Listening Planet, has dedicated his life to circumnavigating the globe, gathering field recordings from some of the Earth’s most captivating—and endangered—landscapes and rendering them in immersive Spatial Audio. “I love insects; it’s a good thing I do, because at times the evening is filled with their sounds,” he says of the sounds of sunrise in one of Panama’s rainforests. “This recording started at around 5:30 am around the Bosque Protector de Palo Seco [rainforest] close to the Costa Rican border. You cannot escape the morning calls of howler monkeys as they welcome the day.”
