La Voix chante

La Voix, Quebec's hugely popular answer to the reality show The Voice, is a big deal. Careers are launched, stars are born, and la musique québécoise is celebrated—week after week. Here La Voix pays tribute to its pandemic-punctuated eighth and final season with another compilation of classic songs from an array of the province's most loved artists, sung in duets by this season's hopefuls. (The show's run was cut short in March before it resumed in September.) Allison Daniels and PETiTOM pair up for a heartfelt acoustic rendering of Claude Dubois' working-class ballad "Comme un million de gens." William Fontaine-Jalbert and Catherine Laurin create sparks in their version of Ariane Moffatt's stirring ode to sensuality "Point de mire." Jason Valentino and Malia have soul to spare on Corneille's early-career love jam “Ensemble." And Michaela Cahill and Gabriel Forest bring contrasting vocal textures and a bit of grit to France D'Amour's lovelorn power ballad "Je n'irai pas ailleurs." All of Season 8’s 24 contenders are highlighted, tackling music by Vincent Vallières, Les sœurs Boulay, Daniel Bélanger, and Diane Tell.
