The Music of DC Comics (75th Anniversary Collection)

Not just for young kids and nerdy guys anymore, comic books have reached a level of mainstream popularity that would have amazed their early creators. Whether through regular comics, graphic novels, Japanese Manga, San Diego's Comic-Con or the seemingly limitless supply of comic-inspired movies, people just can't get enough of superheroes and their various adventures. DC is one of the oldest and most successful brands, introducing many world famous characters including Superman and Batman. Both are well represented on this compilation, with 14 tracks between the two of them, most notably John Williams' epic anthem from the 1978 film, and the zany theme from the '60s TV show, respectively. Other highlights come courtesy of Plastic Man, Wonder Woman, Super Friends, and Shazam, with some nice obscure selections from Hawkman, Aquaman, and the Flash, among others. With songs going back from 1941 through 2009, this is a great sonic trip down memory lane for comic fans young and old.
