On his Christmas album, Mexican tenor Rolando Villazón embraces each of the five languages that he speaks—English, Spanish, Italian, German, and French—while mixing carols with folk songs and pop ballads. It’s touching to hear him away from the opera stage and able to so freely express his joy for Christmas and being surrounded by loved ones. Undoubted highlights are “Stille Nacht,” Villazón floating over gorgeous orchestral accompaniment, and an incredibly stylish “White Christmas.”
