Anita

The Georgian mezzo's debut solo album plays to her strengths. She made her name at many of the world’s great houses as Carmen, and both the “Seguidilla” and “Habanera” appear here, suitably slinky and seductive, the voice firm and focused. She makes an equally strong impression with other arias in French and Italian and is magnificent in the Russian repertoire. A Georgian rarity, “The Cavatina of King Tamar” from Dimitri Arakishvili’s The Legend of Shota Rustaveli, oozes passion and character.
