Tequila Essentials

Tequila Essentials

In 1975, a pair of Argentinian expats—guitarist Ariel Rot and singer Alejo Stivel—joined forces with Spaniards Julian Infante, Felipe Lipe, and Manolo Iglesias, and changed the course of Spanish rock 'n' roll as Tequila. The band's style was ecstatically loose and guitar-centric, with barroom piano and pummeling bass lines adding some depth. Tequila released their first album in 1978, and then dropped an album a year until 1981, all tinkering with their fast and fiery blues. The Rolling Stones were an obvious reference point, but a party with Tequila on the speakers will have its own type of potent kick.
