Socially conscious and nonconformist, Lumen brashly announced their arrival in 2002 with the breakout single “Sid & Nancy”, an edgy alternative-rock track with a heavy dose of punk. The song—along with the rest of their debut, No Preservatives Added—kick-started the Rustem Bulatov-led band's rise to glory. Picking up armfuls of Russian Alternative Music Prizes and Fuzz Awards along the way, Lumen have continued to evolve—expect hard-driving riffs as well as introspective acoustic work—with their lyrics taking on a political tone. We chart their progress with this grungy playlist.
