Formed in 1991 in Buffalo, New York, Snapcase took the mosh-friendly sonics of classic American hardcore bands like Agnostic Front and Youth of Today and added the jagged rhythms and heavy riffs of post-hardcore and metal bands like Fugazi and Helmet. Their style defined hardcore into the next century and had a major impact on emo and screamo as well, with bands like Refused and Thursday citing Snapcase as an inspiration. Between 1993 and 2003 the band released five albums before calling it a day, but several reunions since have seen them play a series of well received shows.
