Harlem Yu Essentials

Harlem Yu Essentials

You can expect surprises from Taiwanese singer-songwriter Harlem Yu. Choosing not to follow his mother into the world of opera, he became a rock musician on a classical music label. His 1986 debut album, Melancholic Singer, sparked an explosion in Mandopop by introducing an element of avant-garde aggression and contained the first Mandopop rap song––“Report, Class Prefect.” Yu's influence on Asian pop music was recognised internationally in 1996, when he was named Most Outstanding Singer-Songwriter in Asia at the Billboard Music Awards and invited to perform on MTV Unplugged.
