Shunji Iwai: Wedding Scores

Famed Japanese director Shunji Iwai joins Apple Music as Guest Curator of the Month with four exclusive playlists. The first week begins with a selection of well-known classical masterpieces from his film A Bride for Rip Van Winkle. Instead of composing an original score, as he had done for previous films, Iwai chose pieces based on an Apple Music search for wedding. "These songs were written for celebratory occasions, but as the main character is tossed from the joys of marriage, we realise they are also relevant during life's difficulties. What is happiness? At what moment do people look beautiful? This was an opportunity for me to reflect on such things”, Iwai says.
