Roger Daltrey's voice is one of rock's toughest. A vocal hard nut from his earliest days singing James Brown songs in ‘60s beat clubs with The Who, his furious holler had to duke it out with one of the world's loudest bands (“My Generation”, “Won't Get Fooled Again”), and his solo career kept up that pugnacious approach (“As Long As I Have You”, “Going Back Home”). But it's when he lets his guard drop that he's at his most affecting, singing “Giving It All Away” and “Walking In My Sleep” with a passionate vulnerability at odds with that battling bulldog image.
