Konstantin Kersting: The Producers

Konstantin Kersting: The Producers

Despite not coming to Australia until he was a teenager, German-born producer Konstantin Kersting has become a ubiquitous presence in his adopted country. After working on The Jungle Giants’ 2017 album Quiet Ferocity, he co-wrote and helmed Mallrat’s platinum-selling single “Better” the same year. Even those early breakthroughs bore Kersting’s sonic signature: a streamlined, hook-forward approach that favoured open space over unnecessary clutter. Bringing that snappy sparseness to Tones And I’s irresistible 2019 earworm “Dance Monkey” introduced his work to a truly global approach, and he has since applied his measured hand to pointed anthems by Amy Shark and Peach PRC as well as more pop- and R&B-leaning material from Budjerah and Eves Karydas. Yet for all his reliable sleekness, he can definitely crank up the atmosphere when needed, as on the 2023 DMA’S album How Many Dreams?.
