The pioneering work of artists such as francophone experimentalist Brigitte Fontaine, Kabyle rockers Abranis and Latin alchemists Meridian Brothers have all had a major influence on Cyril Cyril’s globe-trotting, banjo-ridden indie rock. The Swiss duo’s way with an organ, meanwhile, can be traced back to Nigerien avant-gardist Mammane Sani et son Orgue.
