At Home With YUNGBLUD: The Playlist

YUNGBLUD had moved into an Airbnb with his friends in Venice Beach, California, to work on the writing and recording of his new album—and then the pandemic hit. “We can't get back to London because of everything that's going on—so we're stuck in Venice, by the water,” says the iconoclastic UK pop singer-songwriter. “I've been writing a lot more, but all I'm doing is trying to beat what I've already got.” While YUNGBLUD is hunkered down, he's been staying in touch with his family and fanbase via FaceTime and creating a live late-night-type web series called The YUNGBLUD Show, which he's been filming entirely while on lockdown with his manager, videographer and two of his bandmates. On this exclusive playlist created by YUNGBLUD himself, he highlights tracks by The Cure, Travis Scott, Nirvana and SWMRS that are helping him though these weird times. “He painted these dark pictures that would be like, 'No one could ever say that,' and it just made perfect sense,” he says of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis, whose song “Love Will Tear Us Apart” is included here. “It made me feel like my anxiety was all right.”
