Marlene Urbay

Daughter of Cuban musician José Ramón Urbay, pianist and orchestral conductor Marlene Urbay started getting involved in classical music when she joined the National Ballet of Cuba in 1982, founding the Chamber Orquestra of the Great Theater of Havana in 1987. Urbay emigrated to the U.S. in 1991, earning a master's degree after attending the University of Miami School of Music, becoming director of the Florida Chamber Orchestra in 1995. ~ Drago Bonacich
