About Jesse Rivest

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My first gig was in a cover band called Duct Tape; we played at a The Pier in Kelowna (pub has since burned down). I must have been 19 and we must have been playing Stones, Beatles, Dire Straits, Eagles, and tonnes I can't recall anymore. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Gregory Alan Isakov, This Empty Northern Hemisphere Josh Ritter, The Animal Years The Traveling Wilburys, The Traveling Wilburys, Vol. 1 Remastered 2016 I can't possibly pick just three. The Traveling Wilbury's were with me on family road trips when I was a kid; I loved The Big O and Petty, too. Josh Ritter and G. Alan Isakov super inspired me as a singer-songwriter; Isakov gave me wings to produce. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Nostargic” For a long time I wanted to write about nostalgia and the fact that starlight took so long to reach us here on Earth. This song isn't the perfect embodiment of that idea, but I do like it and I was very happy with the production I came up with. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My first taste of playing at a festival was in New Zealand, 2010. It was small and I co-headlined it. I was nervous and didn't have the experience of my co-host. But I loved that festival, the campfires, activities, folks I met, and my main show. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Uhhh, heaps. Tonnes. Lots. I want to do more of nearly everything, from playing special shows and festivals, cowriting and collaborating, contributing to others' projects, and satisfying myself with my songs and records.
