Dewey Redman

About Dewey Redman

Texas roots explain the bluesy sound of this superb tenor player who contributed much to the bands of Ornette Coleman and Keith Jarrett from the late 1960s through the '70s. With Charlie Haden, he keeps the spirit of Coleman alive while remaining open to all currents of world music. Although his son Joshua may capture more headlines, the elder Redman was the real trailblazer. The sax man passed away in 2006 at the age of 75.
