I used to have a colorful plastic boombox with a mic attached to it, and not long after I learned how to walk, I would set it up in random spots around the house and just wail on the mic. I used to pretend I was my favorite country music stars. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Björk, Vespertine Charles Mingus, The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady Miles Davis, My Funny Valentine: In Concert (Live) If you ask me, Mingus' album is the greatest piece of composed music, ever. "Vespertine" strikes the perfect harmony between electronic and analog elements. Miles' record is the apex of chemistry and mastery between a small group of musicians. Tell us why you chose this song. “Don't Let My Ink Fade” From a production/songwriting perspective, this song was a breakthrough for me. It represents many feelings and sounds that are central to my identity as an artist; story-based songwriting, warm textural sounds, punchy dry drums, and wide dynamics. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Touring the world with Quincy Jones as musical director for Nikki Y. It was the dream job to land after graduation and the best education I ever received. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? My bucket list continues inwards rather than outwards. I've already played many of the major festivals and tours backing up artists I produce & write with. What appeals to me is reaching new levels of depth in crafting songs and sounds.
