Rooted in gospel and bluegrass, Shenandoah combined a neo-traditional country sound with simple lyrics about Dixie life in the southern U.S. On the gentle guitar ballad "Sunday in the South", singer Marty Raybon describes the small-town experience that their music so sweetly reflects. He sells it so well that on the steel guitar serenade "The Moon Over Georgia", he convinces his lover to leave the city and join him where the sky is full of stars.
