Boku No Miteiru Fuukei

Boku No Miteiru Fuukei

After 10 years, ARASHI established itself as the premier J-pop unit going with 2010’s Boku No Miteiru Fuukei. The album delivered a double-disc collection of songs capturing everything the group had been working toward artistically over the previous decade. Giving itself two CDs worth of space to play with, ARASHI explored the breadth of its creativity. Big singles such as the jaunty string-accented “Troublemaker” and “Monster” highlighted the outfit's knack for crafting feel-good uptempo pop while weaving in dramatic flair. Guitar theatrics add a stadium-ready atmosphere to multiple songs, while ARASHI went even faster than usual on frantic numbers such as “Mada Ue O”. Boku No Miteiru Fuukei primarily features this chipper J-pop positivity, but the group also flexes its sweeter side on ballads such as “Gift” while also letting every member highlight their own skills and favorite genres: swaggery rap, party-starting synth-pop and smooth jazz among others. From Boku No Miteiru Fuukei onward, there would be no more doubts about the cultural impact of ARASHI. In the 2010s, the group would only become more popular. Its subsequent music largely takes cues from the styles and sounds found on Boku No Miteiru Fuukei, an album providing a blueprint to how and why ARASHI became a prominent J-pop group.
