Cindy Yen Essentials

Music has taught Cindy Yen much about perseverance. The Taiwanese-American singer was told that her music was "too Western" as she faced rejection from a host of record labels. But Yen pushed on and finally found a home on pop star Jay Chou's label. Today, Yen is credited for a musical style built on R&B, with elements of pop rock, hard metal, hip-hop and folk. Her self-titled debut album, which features "Stupid Fish" and "I'm Sorry", introduces Yen as a passionate songstress with a personality all her own. But don't just take our word for it—we'll let these songs speak for her.
