Laurence Nerbonne Essentials

Laurence Nerbonne understands the power of a slow burn. Born in 1985, the Québécois pop singer and producer entered the fray fronting cult indie-rock band Hôtel Morphée. The group formed in 2008, melding singer-songwriter intensity with electro tinges, as heard on its debut LP, Des histoires de fantômes (2013). Nerbonne embarked on her solo journey in 2016 with the prismatic indie pop of XO, helming all lyrical, vocal and production duties, and earning a Juno Award for Francophone Album of the Year. Now based in Montreal, Nerbonne loosened her all-encompassing creative control on subsequent albums FEU (2019) and OMG (2021), collaborating with producers such as Banx & Ranx and Domeno to expand her sound with bass-heavy trap and warbling EDM.
