“I just see death in what is beautiful,” guitarist Daniela Villarreal Vélez sings on “Ritual”, the soaring opener of The Warning’s fifth album. On Everything’s Falling, the Mexican rock trio composed of Daniela and her sisters—Paulina (drums/vocals) and Alejandra (bass/vocals)—join forces with producer and co-writer Anton DeLost for what might be their most eclectic album yet. “Ego” combines guitar skronk with the sisters’ native Spanish for a cool, off-kilter dance vibe. “Kerosene” goes full Alternative Nation, invoking a more streamlined take on the ’90s’ biggest female rockers and falling somewhere between L7 and The Breeders. The bass-driven “Bloodsport” and “Waste Your Time on Me” show off Alejandra’s chops while the fiery “Perfect Daughter” sees Daniela take on an abuser.
