The Kristovski brothers experienced overnight success with the release of “Praskovya” and “Uma Thurman”—the latter named after the actress who also inspired the band's name. The Moscow duo's 2004 debut, V Gorode N, drew on alternative rock inspirations, along with melodic pop, jazz, bossa nova and ska influences. The resulting sound was lyrical and engaging, animated by cheerful hooks, warm electric guitars and the playful bounce of jazz-infused piano. With several chart-topping hits to their name, Uma2rman continue to dominate Russia's alternative scene.
