Born in Central Russia's Samara, twins Boris and Konstantin Burdaev formed Brothers Grim in the late '90s as a vehicle for their gripping, melodic pop-rock—and listeners quickly got on board. Their self-titled full-length debut, recorded in Moscow and released in 2004, was an immediate hit thanks to a potent mix of thrumming riffs and earworm hooks. Subsequent albums saw them explore funkier instrumentation, heavier blasts of sound and acoustic, folk-influenced guitars. And though Boris left the band in 2009, they march on without him—2015's Zombies proving their enduring pop prowess.
