This 2005 collaboration between smooth-voiced alt-country troubadour Buckner and rough-voiced punk-country dude Langford (Mekons, The Waco Brothers) finds them drawing each other out of their comfort zones. On the opening “Rolling of the Eyes”, Langford lays corrugated guitar fuzz over Buckner’s measured melody and country-rock stylings. They sound like they’re having a night to remember on the barroom romp “The Inca Princess”, and the two trade bottom-of-the-shotglass lines on the soul-scraping ballad “Nothing to Show”.
