Concerto Italiano’s album of works by Italian Renaissance composer Claudio Monteverdi is a dark kaleidoscope of dissonance, joy and despair. The centerpieces here are, of course, the composer’s Madrigali guerrieri, et amorosi from his eighth book of madrigals, and Concerto Italiano offers a remarkably clear and impassioned reading.
