About Static-X

Wayne Static and Ken Jay formed the heavy metal band Static-X in Chicago in the mid-1990s. Relocating to Los Angeles, where there was a more fertile metal scene, they recruited Koichi Fukuda and Tony Campos and developed their trademark "rhythmic trancecore," retooling the electronic industrial sound pioneered by bands like Ministry. They signed with Warner Brothers in February 1998, and set about recording their debut album. Static-X developed a formidable live reputation over the next couple of years, touring with Slayer, Fear Factory, and System Of A Down, but their second and third albums struggled to match the impact of the band’s debut album. Their loyal fanbase kept Static-X on the road, and 2005’s START A WAR was something of a return to form.
