About Silversun Pickups
One of the most successful bands to emerge from L.A.’s mid-2000s indie-rock scene, Silversun Pickups have racked up almost a dozen Top 20 hits since their debut. ∙ While the band has referred to their name as “a state of mind,” it actually comes from a neighborhood liquor store where they regularly picked up food and drink during their early days. ∙ Their Platinum-certified breakout, “Lazy Eye,” from 2006’s Carnavas, appeared in three critically acclaimed video games: Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour, and Forza Horizon. ∙ “Panic Switch,” from 2009’s Grammy-nominated Swoon, was the first song by an independent artist to top Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart in more than a decade. ∙ The 2012 album Neck of the Woods shot to No. 1 on iTunes the day after its release, and two of its singles—“Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)” and “The Pit”—were Top 10 radio hits. ∙ Four years after shooting a video for their song “Simmer,” actress Aisha Tyler recruited the band to soundtrack her award-winning feature film directorial debut, Axis, in 2017. ∙ Better Nature, the first release on the band’s own label, produced the smash “Nightlight.”
