About RAMP
An obscure band from Cincinnati, Ohio, Ramp released one album in 1977 that didn't do all that much upon release. However, decades later, due to sampling and increased appreciation for all things bearing the mark of jazz-funk legend Roy Ayers (who produced the set), the album became a rare groove classic. Featuring "Daylight" (sampled by A Tribe Called Quest for "Bonita Applebum") and a version of Ayers' "Everybody Loves the Sunshine," two anti-gravity soul/jazz-funk pearls, Come into Knowledge was known to fetch extremely high prices among collectors. It was finally issued on CD in 2007; around that time, the band reconvened for a handful of performances. ~ Andy Kellman
