Argentinian-born pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim is a cosmopolitan musician of the highest order—in addition to countless guest engagements since the ‘60s, he's held conducting posts at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin State Opera and La Scala; he's currently “Staatskapellmeister for Life” at the Staatskapelle Berlin. Some of his most compelling passion projects have included his kaleidoscopic Brahms symphony cycle with the CSO, his sublime Bruckner cycle at Berlin, and his intimate readings of the radical, gripping music of Pierre Boulez (“Sur Incises: Movement I”).
