Under Cover: Motown in the '70s

In the '70s Motown got ambitious. The label's attention switched from singles to epic albums, and the influence of rock and psychedelia—and then later disco and quiet storm soul—impacted their output. So it's no surprise that a diverse group of acts that include arty post-punks The Associates and neo soul god D'Angelo have served up covers of hits from the label's most wide-ranging era.
