MCA Records: Disco, R&B and Funk

MCA Records' stable of funk and soul acts helped propel the label to success in the '70s. The Top 200 and R&B charts were populated by MCA talent throughout the decade, from newcomers like Rose Royce and Rufus & Chaka Khan to funk icons War, who closed out their '70s golden period on the label. MCA also returned many ‘60s soul icons to the spotlight, including Martha Reeves and Bobby “Blue” Bland.
