Adagios for Strings

Samuel Barber's affecting "Adagio for Strings" is one of the most famous works of its kind, thanks in part to its use in films like David Lynch's The Elephant Man and Oliver Stone's Platoon. Many composers, from Mozart to Arvo Pärt, have written patient, stirring music for the string section of the orchestra; slow down and explore their gradual (and gorgeous) works.
