From the late ‘70s through the ‘90s, an energetic urban music scene established itself in Spain. Focused around the Vallekas neighbourhood in Madrid, it was inspired by the sonic possibilities of hard rock, symphonic rock and heavy metal and fired by a punk ethos. This unique post-Francoist musical community defined the sociopolitical situation in Spain with combative lyrics and urgent melodies.
