Rakotofra

Rakotofra learned to play the sodina flute as a child. At age ten, he moved to Antananarivo to work as a baker after his parents died and there he played for pleasure. His long career has included a performance for Charles de Gaulle in 1947, other performances throughout Africa and Europe, and a stint with the group Kalaza, with whom he visited the U.K. in 1986. ~ Steve Huey
