Los Bukis Essentials

Los Bukis Essentials

Formed in the early '70s by lead singer Marco Antonio Solís and cousin Joel Solís, Los Bukis rode the crest of the grupera wave that mixed passionate vocals and languid rhythms with electric guitar and keyboards. The sinuous organ flowing through their first hit, "Falso Amor", replaced the accordion of traditional Mexican music, while the doo-wop triplets and screaming guitar solo of "Yo Te Necesito" nodded knowingly to the north. Much of the band's music, like "Quiéreme", reflected power balladry at its purest, increasingly so as Los Bukis began filling stadiums in the '90s.
