After two albums celebrating her late father, Ravi Shankar, Anoushka turns her attention to the plight of refugees and war victims with this empathetic classical fusion project. East meets West as cello, double bass, and piano blend with a double-reeded shehnai, metal Hang percussion, and Shankar's sitar, which beams through each arrangement like a great light. M.I.A. adds a provocateur's viewpoint to "Jump In (Cross the Line)," but it's the cinematic 11-minute mini-suite "Crossing the Rubicon" that best argues Shankar's case for compassion.
