Rapper Ramirez made his mark with a modern sound influenced by ’90s-era Bay Area and Memphis hip-hop. • Hailing from San Francisco, the MC is of Mexican and Nicaraguan descent. He credits his uncle with introducing him to Memphis hip-hop greats like Three 6 Mafia, a major influence on his music. • Ramirez was initially more interested in photography than in music. The success of his 2013 debut project, Trillity, convinced him to focus on music. • He joined up with G*59 Records in 2015, the label started the previous year by the New Orleans duo $uicideboy$, who would become frequent collaborators. • Ramirez teamed up with Virginia singer-songwriter Rocci for the joint 2020 album THA PLAYA$ MANUAL, a nostalgic ode to West Coast G-funk and other ’90s sounds.
