The Mercy's were instrumental in crafting a distinctively Indonesian sound as rock'n'roll spread across the globe in the 1970s. The collective originated in North Sumatra, forming at the end of the '60s before spending several years touring the islands whilst perfecting a style that incorporated washes of psychedelic fuzz, rollicking piano riffs, and sweet harmonies that echoed out of Laurel Canyon. Lyrics and delivery drive this collection, the words gently sentimental, befitting the group's penchant for slow-burning balladry.
